WhatsApp is currently testing a feature that will alert users about new unseen status updates from their contacts, which will be included in an upcoming update of the app.
However, it is not clear whether the user will get status notification for every app installed in the app or any rule will be made for this. In this case, it is believed that the alert may be received when the user has been mentioned in a status and he has not seen that status.
