The demise of famous fashion designer Rohit Bal has come as a shock to both the entertainment and fashion industries.
From Bollywood actors like Sonam Kapoor and Ananya Panday to designer Manish Malhotra, many people took to social media to pay tribute to Rohit Bal, who is fondly called ‘Gudda’ by his fans.
Sonam Kapoor wrote, “Dear Gudda, I am hearing about your demise just as I was on my way to celebrate Diwali. Your beautiful creation, which you generously lent me for the second time, I am fortunate to have known you.” I wear you and have walked many times for you.” I hope you’ll always be my biggest fan.”
He also posted some pictures with Rohit Bal.
Actress Ananya Panday, who recently got the chance to be Rohit Bal’s “last” muse in his comeback show at Lakme Fashion Week 2024, also expressed her heartfelt condolences.
She shared an adorable picture with Rohit Bal from the show and wrote, “Gudda (red heart emoji and a pigeon emoji). Om Shanti.”
Fashion designer Manish Malhotra described Rohit Bal’s death as “sad and shocking”.
Pulkit Samrat wrote on Instagram Story, “OG will be missed.”
The news of his demise was shared on the official Instagram handle of Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) on Friday.
“We mourn the demise of the legendary designer Rohit Bal. He was the founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Known for his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, Bal’s work revolutionized Indian fashion. Redefined and inspired generations. His legacy of artistry and innovation as well as visionary thinking will live on in the fashion world,” the post reads.
In October 2024, Bal returned to the runway after almost a year in poor health. She showcased her collection “Kainaat: A Bloom in the Universe” at the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week.
Baal was not well for a long time. In 2023, he was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Delhi due to heart disease.
A few weeks after his hospitalization, Bal wrote a post thanking everyone for their concern.
“Dear friends, family and supporters, I have been deeply touched by your love and prayers during my illness. Your support has been a symbol of hope and strength, helping me on my journey to recovery. As I heal I miss the resilience of our bond and our shared dreams.. and I assure you, your belief in our vision remains my light in these challenging times. Thanks for being there. Let’s move forward with hope and courage,” posted the Srinagar-born designer.
Bal was 63 years old. His demise has definitely left a void in the Indian fashion industry. (ANI)
