Aamir Khan opens up about the characters and themes of Sitare Zameen Par. He also teased the possible release date of the film
Taare Zameen Par is one of the most important films of Aamir Khan’s career, which was released in 2007 and received immense praise and love from the audience. Fans are eagerly waiting for the update of Aamir’s next Sitare Zameen Par, which is touted to be a spiritual sequel to the film. In an interview with Deadline at the Red Sea International Film Festival, Aamir explained in detail about Sitare Zameen Par and when the film will release in theatres. When asked about Sitare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan said, “Sitaare Zameen Par is the sequel to Taare Zameen Par, a film I directed a few years ago. However it is not a sequel in the sense that the characters do not carry over from the previous one. So it’s a new set of characters with completely fresh situations and storyline. Thematically it is the sequel to Taare Zameen Par. It’s saying the same things… actually it’s saying a lot more. Taare Zameen Par was about a child who has dyslexia. So this is a film that explored the themes of the challenges of multiple intelligences, and how we judge people so quickly based on their written and reading IQ. Whereas people have many types of intelligence which are often not recognized. We all have difficulties and weaknesses, qualities that make us magical and unique. This theme has been taken forward in Sitare Zameen Par.”

Aamir also shared plans to release the film after completing the post-production work. “We’re actually getting into post-production. We have some pick-ups and then we’re going to post later this month. Then we will be ready to release the film sometime in the middle of next year.
Sitare Zameen Par was announced for October 2023. It will star Aamir, Darsheel and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles. RS Prasanna is directing the sequel, which is based on the 2018 Spanish film Champions.
Aamir was honored at the Red Sea Film Festival for his contribution to cinema. He is currently busy promoting and promoting Lapata Ladies (renamed Lost Ladies) with director and ex-wife Kiran Rao. The film is India’s official submission to the Oscars in the Best International Feature category.
