Sales increased in all vehicle segments
SIAM President Vinod Aggarwal said, “All segments i.e. passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers have registered growth in May 2024 as compared to May 2023. Passenger vehicles have seen marginal growth, mainly due to the high base effect of the previous year. However, two wheelers and three wheelers have registered double-digit growth. With expectations of a better than normal monsoon and continued emphasis on economic growth by the new government, the auto industry is optimistic for stable growth in 2024-25 as well.”
SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said, “Passenger vehicle sales in May 2024 were the highest ever in May, although there was a marginal increase of 3.9% compared to May 2023. Two-wheelers registered a growth of 10.1% in May 2024 compared to last year, but it is still lower than the May 2017-18 levels. Domestic sales of three-wheelers in May 2024 grew by 14.7% compared to May 2023, registering the highest ever May sales, surpassing the previous peak of the year 2018-19.”
