Nainital, As we all know and have heard that Lord Shiva lives on Mount Kailash. But do you know, not only the God of Gods Lord Shiva lives on the mountains. Mother Gauri’s maternal home is also on the land of mountains. You might be surprised to hear this, but it is true. The tradition of worshipping the Kuldevi Nanda Devi has been going on in these mountains for hundreds of years. One such festival is Nanda Mahotsav. Preparations have been started in full swing in Nainital for this tradition that has been going on for years.

Preparations for Nanda Sunanda Mahotsav, the Kuldevi of the hills, have begun in Nainital. Let us tell you, this year Nanda Mahotsav will be celebrated from 8th to 15th September. After the idol of the goddess is made, Pran Pratishtha will be done on 11th, after which people from all over the country will be able to see Maa Nanda. Ram Sevak Sabha and the district administration have started preparations for this Nanda Mahotsav, which is being celebrated in Nainital for the last 120 years. The special thing about this year’s festival is that in this festival of the Kuldevi of the Chandra dynasty, a glimpse of the folk tradition, culture and customs of the hills will be seen. After which, after celebrating the festival on 15th September, Maa Nanda will be sent off from her maternal home to Shivaji on Kailash.

As we know, Nanda is worshipped as the Kuldevi (family goddess) in the mountains. There are many legends about Nanda leaving Kailash in the mountains. After the High Court’s order, the religious side has to organize the fair while the district administration has to organize the fair. All the arrangements are being made so that the devotees do not face any problems, while the tourism department is busy in including it in the World Heritage.

Not only do the people of the mountains have special faith in the Nanda Mahotsav, but people from all over the country also come here to see it from far and wide. During the worship of Rajarajeshwar, the entire mountain is filled with Nanda and a glimpse of the daughter being sent off can also be seen during this time. Now all that is awaited is the start of the Nanda Mahotsav.
