Seoul. South Korea says that North Korea has fired artillery shells near the tense maritime border for the third consecutive day. South Korea’s military says North Korea fired more than 90 shells on Sunday afternoon. He said that South Korea has strongly urged North Korea to stop its provocative actions.
The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Sunday mocked South Korea’s ability to detect weapons fired by North Korea. He denied Seoul’s claim that North Korea had fired artillery shells into the sea the day before. South Korea’s military immediately dismissed his statement as “low-level psychological warfare tactics” and warned it would respond strongly to any provocation by North Korea.
200 shells were fired on the sea border on Friday, 60 on Saturday
South Korea’s military had earlier said that North Korea fired shells for the second consecutive day on Saturday near the disputed western maritime border of the two rival countries. The military said North Korea fired more than 60 shells on Saturday, a day after firing more than 200 shells. North Korea acknowledged that it opened artillery fire on Friday but said it did not fire a single shell on Saturday.
Dictator Kim’s sister’s claim, said- only blasting powder was fired
Kim’s sister Kim Yo Jong said on Sunday that North Korea simply fired blasting powder from cannons at the beach to test the South Korean military’s detection capabilities. He said, “The result was as per our expectations. They mistook the sound of the explosion for the sound of gunfire and called it an act of provocation.” South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that it closely monitors North Korean military activities.
