Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday admitted that he was abandoned with “an egg on his face” in protest against India’s stance when the Russia-Ukraine war broke out and said that the policy was adopted, the country is now in a situation where it can make a difference for permanent peace.
Tharoor criticized India’s stance when Russia attacked Ukraine and called for condemnation of aggression.
During an interactive session at Raisina Dialogue in Delhi, former Minister of State for External Affairs said, “I am still wiping my face eggs because I am a person in parliamentary debate, who actually criticized the Indian situation at that time in February 2022.”
The MP of Thiruvananthapuram said that his criticism was “based on famous grounds that the United Nations was a violation of the charter, a member of the state violated the sovereignty of the state, such as the name of the sovereignty of a member state is Ukraine, and we always stood for the immorality of the use of force to resolve international disputes”.
“All those principles were violated by a party and we should have condemned it. Well, three years later, I seem to be one with eggs on my face because policy clearly means that there is a really Prime Minister in India, who can separate the President of Ukraine and the President of Moscow for two weeks,” he said look at the waiting pace. ,
Therefore, India is in a situation where it can create a difference for a permanent peace if it was necessary in the ways that would be capable in very few countries, Tharoor said.
He said that India also benefits due to many factors including its distance from Europe.
With the warning that he could not talk on behalf of the government as he was in opposition, Tharoor also said that if it had been necessary and if there was any agreed peace between Russia and Ukraine, there is some wish on the Indian side to consider sending peace soldiers.
Given that the Russians have made it clear that they will not accept European peace soldiers who belong to NATO countries, Tharoor said that someone would have to look beyond Europe for peace soldiers.
“Speaking as an Indian MP, I do not think there is a lot of resistance to that idea.
