In a recent interview she revealed how she stays away from bottled shampoos, using them only on the rare occasions when she finds herself travelling. Shalini’s shampoo is a homemade blend of reetha or Indian soap and amla or Indian gooseberry. Both have to be soaked and mixed. In her own words, it works like a “natural shampoo” which she uses to keep her scalp clean. While Reetha removes oil, dirt and impurities from the scalp due to its antibacterial and antifungal properties, Amla is a super-ingredient that not only promotes hair growth but also prevents premature graying.
Additional tips shared by Shalini include applying coconut oil to your hair and not allowing any kind of external product to get into your scalp. And although she does heat styling, Shalini tries to keep it to a minimum.
