Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah are two of the most acclaimed actors of Indian cinema, who have acted in many films in the 80s. The actors acted in several films which started the parallel cinema movement in their time. Surprising fans, Shabana shared a new picture of Naseeruddin on her Instagram on Sunday evening, and called him her favorite actor. In the picture, Shabana was seen sitting with veteran director Shyam Benegal during her 90th birthday celebrations. Naseeruddin stood right behind Shabana and smiled for the picture. In the caption, Shabana wrote, “On Shyam Benegal’s 90th birthday with my co-actor from many films and my favorite actor Naseeruddin Shah.” Why aren’t more people taking us together?
Reacting to the post, actor Pratik commented, “Mashallah.” Director Shekhar Kapur, who had directed both actors in one of his all-time favorite films, Masoom, commented: “What a beautiful picture…”

Shabana started her acting career with Shyam Benegal’s film Ankur. The film received much praise and won her her first National Award for Best Actress.
Shabana worked with Naseeruddin in many films like Manthan, Paar, Sparsh, Mandi, Junoon, Libaas. In a recent interview with Humans of Cinema, Shabana had said, “Naseer is my favorite co-star. I have worked with many actors, but what I got from Naseer…that’s something I miss and I wish someone would cast him and me together!”
Shabana was recently paired opposite Dharmendra in Karan Johar’s film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film also starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Shabana won Filmfare and IIFA awards for her performance in the film.
