In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Pramod Ravindra, CEO, Pro Physio Healthcare, gave tips to incorporate exercise and activity into daily routine along with other healthy habits to boost overall well-being –

  1. Take time for yourself: It’s okay to be selfish sometimes. Before you can help others, you have to take care of yourself. Prioritizing self-care is essential to establishing balance in one’s life and maintaining healthy habits.
  2. Find activities you like: Find exercise routines that bring you joy – whether it’s dancing, hiking, or trying a new sport, doing what you love makes staying active enjoyable and sustainable.
  3. Start small, build up slowly: Don’t burden yourself with intense workouts right from the beginning. Start with short sessions and gradually increase intensity and duration to avoid burnout.
  4. Make it a habit: Set up a daily or weekly exercise program and stick to it. Consistency is key to creating a healthy exercise routine and achieving long-term benefits.
  5. Incorporate movement into your day: Look for opportunities to move more throughout your day. Take the stairs, walk or bike instead of driving short distances, or have a small dance party at work.
  6. Partners for Accountability: Find a workout buddy or join group fitness classes to stay motivated and accountable. Support and encouragement can make exercise feel like a fun social activity.
  7. Fuel your body right: Choose nutrient-rich foods that nourish your body and support your fitness goals. A balanced diet supports your energy levels and overall health. Be consistent with your meal times.
  8. Prioritize rest and recovery: Give your body time to rest and recover after a workout. Quality sleep and relaxation is essential for muscle repair and overall health. Not getting enough quality sleep on a regular basis increases the risk of many diseases and disorders.
  9. stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated and functioning optimally. Hydration is important to maintain good overall health.
  10. Listen to your body: Pay attention to what your body is telling you. Rest when you need to, take breaks, and listen for any signs of fatigue or distress. Your body knows best!
