New Delhi. Now people of India will be able to search apps on App Store in 12 local languages. Walmart-invested PhonePe has launched Indus Appstore for India on 21 February 2024. According to the information given on Appstore, there are 4 lakh apps available on it. Search can be done on this in 12 Indian languages including Hindi. With the arrival of this app, Google’s Play Store in India is expected to face a strong challenge.
This appstore can be installed in every Android phone. Through this app, users can download more than 2 lakh mobile apps and games in 45 categories. A short video based search option is also available in it, with the help of which it becomes easier for people to search something on the app.

What did the CEO say?
PhonePe Founder and CEO Sameer Nigam has said that Indus App will provide a healthy competition in the mobile app market. He said that it will also help in creating a more democratic and vibrant Indian digital system. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was also present on the occasion of the app launch.
No charge for app listing
If any company wants to bring its app on Indus Appstore, then it will not have to pay any money for doing so for one year. After this, a nominal fee will be charged from them every year. However, the company has not yet given any information about how much fees will be charged from developers for listing the app after one year. According to app intelligence firm data.ai, the country is also the largest market in the world in terms of app downloads.
