A trainer has revealed a particular type of cardio that doesn’t help to tone your body.
Getting your daily steps on the treadmill feels like an accomplishment as you give yourself a mental high five. As a cardio activity, walking feels like you’re actually burning calories while getting you closer to your dream body goals. Taking long steps and swinging your arms can give the impression that walking works the entire body. However, it is time for a reality check. Jacqueline Walker, certified personal trainer-nurse practitioner (according to her Instagram bio), took to her page to dispel common misconceptions about body toning just by walking.

Walking has not been completely dismissed, as Jacqueline Walker has acknowledged its health benefits. But this before and after does not produce the much-desired changes. They wrote, “Although walking is fantastic for improving your overall health, it doesn’t burn enough calories to make a noticeable difference in fat loss or body toning. This is because low-intensity activities like walking do not have the same calorie-burning effect as moderate or high-intensity workouts.

Toning your body for an attractive look requires more than just walking. The result of the change will not be visible. Walking is healthy but it is not intense enough. Jacqueline Walker suggests, “Combine steady-state moderate workouts with short intervals of high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Moderate workouts help you increase stamina and burn calories, while HIIT maximizes fat burning and involves more muscle groups for toning. Together, these strategies burn calories more efficiently and transform your body faster — all without spending endless hours in the gym.
He said that to get ‘real results’ one has to increase one’s workouts and choose workouts that provide challenge to the body and improve metabolism. Walking is only at beginner level.
