Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently shared about being apprehensive about working in Raj and DK’s Citadel: Honey Bunny after being diagnosed with myositis. In a recent interview with Galata India, the actor said that he begged the director duo to find his replacement for the action-thriller series. Samantha Citadel on shooting amid treatment for myositis

When Samantha was asked how she dealt with the situation when she was undergoing treatment during the shooting of Citadel: Honey Bunny, she said, “I begged them to go ahead because I really didn’t think I could I can do this. I really believed I couldn’t do it. I sent other recommendations: ‘Look at this heroine; She is so amazing. She will kill it. I beg you, I can’t do this.’ I sent him four options. I was really not well.”

He further added, “Now, looking at the show, I am very grateful that they didn’t make it without me and that I found the strength to do it. Even before the decision of this show comes, I am going to commit myself to taking it forward.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s acting career

Samantha started her acting career with Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Tamil romantic-drama Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. Her first Telugu film was Ye Maya Chesave with Naga Chaitanya, also directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. She gained pan-India recognition with her appearance in the track Oo Antavaa in the Allu Arjun-Rashmika Mandanna starrer Pushpa: The Rise (2021). She also starred in the Tamil romantic-comedy Kaathuvakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022), starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara. She also starred in the Telugu action-thriller Yashoda (2022) and Gunasekhar’s Telugu period drama Shakuntalam (2023). Her last theatrical release was the Telugu romantic-comedy Kushi (2023) with Vijay Deverakonda. Samantha’s first Hindi series was Raj and DK’s The Family Man Season 2, in which she played a negative role.

About Citadel: Honey Bunny

Citadel: Honey Bunny stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha playing the lead roles of Detective Bunny and Honey respectively. The action-series is a spin-off prequel to Priyanka Chopra-Richard Madden starrer Citadel. Citadel: Honey Bunny features Priyanka’s Nadia Singh as a young girl played by 8-year-old Kasvi. The action-thriller series also stars Kay Kay Menon, Simran Bagga, Sikandar Kher, Saqib Saleem and others in important roles.

Citadel: Honey Bunny is scheduled to be released on November 7, 2024.
