In an exclusive interview with HT Lifestyle, Rohman shared his fitness mantra, workout routine and diet secrets. Part:
Do you exercise in the morning or evening; And why?
I’m generally an evening sleeper, as it helps me sleep better at night. But I have a habit of waking up in the morning, stretching my body and doing 60 push-ups (3 sets of 20 reps each) on a daily basis. This helps me start my day on a good note and gives me a sense of accomplishment.
How do you stay active if you can’t work out at the gym due to travel or work commitments?
I haven’t gone to the gym for a long time. For my film Amraan, I had to follow a particular body type so that I wouldn’t be skinny, so I changed my exercise routine!! I am now interested in calisthenics and yoga, which can be done anywhere. Besides, if there’s no room, I go running!! Another important thing that I have included in my daily routine is playing football with friends once a week. This has helped me stay physically and mentally healthy. I’ll return to the gym if my next project demands it, but otherwise, I’m quite happy following the current routine.
How do you stay motivated to exercise when you don’t feel like exercising?
For me, exercise is more of a way to stay healthy than to look fit. You can have all the money, name and fame in the world, but if you are not healthy, you will not be able to enjoy it all. There can be no better inspiration than this!
What’s your trick to burning more calories and fat?
For me, that would be a 7-8 km run, consisting of 3 sets of 200-meter sprints at varying intervals (I’ve always been a runner; I can still run 100 meters in about 11 seconds. Am). It gives me instant results.
Do you sometimes put too much pressure on yourself to work out?
I used to do it before, not anymore. With age and experience, you realize that your body needs rest, so you take it easy!! The longer the recovery time, the better the results. Having said that, it works for me, because I have a certain body type. This may not work for everyone.
How do you follow your exercise regime and diet plan?
Understanding the fact that to make the most of this precious life that you have been given, the least you can do is feed your body, mind and soul in the best possible way! Once you love yourself, it’s not hard to manage.
Are you on any special diet? No sugar, intermittent fasting or something else?
I am not one of those people who count calories, but I follow a 2-time meal plan. I only have brunch and then dinner. Since I started doing it, I feel like my body has become more active, and I feel fitter than ever. Also, I try to avoid sugar as much as possible, but I have a huge sweet tooth, so I indulge in it sometimes.
Do you have any diet tips and tricks that fans can learn?
First of all, it is very important to be aware of what your body is trying to tell you, as it speaks to you through signals. What works for me may not work for you, so don’t follow anyone blindly. Get regular tests done and know your body type before going on a diet. Trust me, it’s not that hard; You just need to believe in yourself!
What are the main elements of your diet? What’s the first thing you eat/drink when you wake up and the last thing you eat/drink before you go to sleep?
My diet is very basic, I wake up and drink at least 2 glasses of water, and then wait for 40 minutes before making my breakfast (it’s a ritual, I have to make my own breakfast), which consists of 4 pieces Consists of avocado toast, 2 sunny-side-up eggs and some coffee to keep me going all day. Then, for dinner, I usually have rice and dal with some curd and tandoori chicken. That’s the last thing I eat unless I’m in the mood to eat, then I do have some sweets. Just a reminder: Since I’m only maintaining my current physical shape, I’m following this. To make any changes I would definitely have to change my diet.
What is your daily workout like and how many days a week do you work out?
I get up, stretch, and do 60 push-ups (20×3 reps). Then, there will be calisthenics and yoga in the evening (usually 3-4 times a week). There are 90 minutes booked for football every Wednesday evening, which I feel has helped me a lot physically and mentally. I would like to request all of you to please find a game of your choice and play it at least once a week, no matter what. This will help your fitness journey to another level. Then, once a week, usually on Sunday, I go for a run, which is usually 7-8 km and involves fast walking and running.
