Rekha Gupta all are ready to take oath as Delhi CM: There are 7 challenges before Shalimar Bagh MLA

Date:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday appointed MLA Rekha Gupta as the Chief Minister of Delhi for the first time. With this announcement, the fourth woman Chief Minister was given to the national capital. Rekha Gupta and her cabinet members are ready to take oath on 20 February, Thursday.

However, as the BJP has taken over from the AAP, Delhi conducted for ten years, there are big challenges that are ahead for Saffron Party and Delhi CM-Deejine Rekha Gupta.

Deliver

The BJP made many big tickets promises for the voters of Delhi, especially women. The party promised to provide financial assistance 2,500 to women beneficiaries by 8 March (International Women’s Day). Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself assured that this is “Modi’s guarantee.”

Also, the party promised 21,000 as assistance to pregnant women among other welfare schemes.

Cleaning of Yamuna River

Cleaning the Yamuna river presents a major challenge for the newly elected BJP government in Delhi. The ambitious scheme launched on February 16, 2025 The objective is to restore the polluted river within three years, which through a four-dimensional strategy that focus on the garbage, drain cleaning and sewage treatment plant upgrade and construction Is.

With the emphasis on the restoration of Yamuna, PM Modi, the BJP’s success rests on effectively executing this complex project and completing its 2027 deadline.

Fiscal stability

One of the biggest reasons for Arvind Kejriwal’s success in Delhi was AAP government’s welfare schemes, including free water, electricity, healthcare (Mohalla clinics) and better education in government schools. The BJP has also promised similar welfare measures in its Shankalap Patra (Manifesto).

Maintaining the fiscal stability of Delhi presents an important challenge for CM-Namit Rekha Gupta, especially with the promises of welfare schemes, reminiscent of the previous AAP government.

Rekha Gupta’s administration should create a delicate balance between fulfilling these social welfare commitments and ensuring fiscal discretion to avoid stress in the economy.

While the Delhi budget analysis for 2024-25 estimates a revenue surplus, it is 35% lower than the revised estimate for 2023-24, and the fiscal deficit is targeted. 6,565 crores

Delhi air pollution

An recurring crisis is the smog that cuts the national capital every year. Delhi’s air pollution crisis deteriorates in every winter because due to stubble burning, emissions of vehicles and industrial pollution. The outgoing AAP government struggles to control the dangerous air quality index (AQI) levels, which often reaches the serious category.

The BJP government will need to focus on long -term solutions such as expanding green cover, promoting electric vehicles and improving waste management to create a significant impact on Delhi’s air quality.

Civic issues

Street and sewage cleaning faced important challenges for BJP CM Rekha Gupta as its administration wants to address continuous issues affecting Delhi’s urban infrastructure.

The AAP government missed the December 2023 deadline for the treatment of all sewage generated in Delhi, the Rekha Gupta administration is now under pressure to increase its sewage treatment capacity and manage drains effectively.

Around 792 million gallon sewage is produced daily with Delhi, only 667 million gallons can be treated by existing features, allowing it to enter wastewater entering the Yamuna river.

Lack of water and power supply

Lack of water in Delhi and irregular power supply are long -standing issues. Many parts of the city were damaged by the pollution of the Yamuna river, suffering from irregular water supply.

The BJP has vowed to provide clean drinking water, but will be a difficult task to ensure continuous availability and quality.

Electricity supply is another major concern. After the BJP’s victory, the AAP leaders criticized the party on the power outage. The new government will have to prove its proficiency by giving uninterrupted electricity throughout Delhi.

Maintain a balance between new face and old guard

Rekha Gupta emerged as a dark horse within the BJP. The Saffron Party has clearly angered the old guard like Gupta and Verma (Parvesh and Vijendra), who has been with the BJP for a long time, for the first time as the Delhi CM. In that scenario, it was a challenge for Delhi CM-Namit Rekha Gupta to balance the new and old faces of the BJP, and obviously avoid dissatisfaction.
