Ramzan 2024: The holy month of Ramzan is expected to start in the second week of the month of March. The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, called Ramadan or Ramadan, is celebrated by the Muslim community across the world. This month is dedicated to peace, contemplation and practicing community. During the month of Ramzan, people keep fast from morning till sunset. The pre-dawn meal is called Suhoor and after sunset people break the fast with Iftar. The beginning of Ramadan will be decided when the moon is seen in Saudi Arabia. The end of Ramadan will also be decided by the sighting of the moon. This will determine the time period of Ramadan to be observed – twenty-nine or thirty days. This year, Ramzan will tentatively begin on March 11 and end on April 9.

Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Affairs Ministry issued notice:

Before Ramadan, Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman has banned organizing Iftar inside mosques. On 21 February, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs issued a notice on its official X profile announcing that iftars should not be held inside mosques due to hygiene concerns.

The notice also mentions a ban on Imams and Muezzins from collecting financial donations for organizing Iftar. “The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawa and Guidance issues a number of instructions related to mosques during the holy month of Ramadan 1445 Hijri,” the post reads.

The notice mentioned that a separate area should be prepared for organizing Iftar in the courtyard of mosques. It should be organized keeping cleanliness in mind. It also says that the person who breaks the fast should immediately clean the place. The ministry also issued orders banning the use of mobile phones inside mosques or making videos of imams and worshipers offering namaz.
