The case for strength training

Ranveer asked Rakul about any workout myths she would like to bust as she is a gym buff. Rakul decided to bust some baseless theories about strength training.

“Strength training is very important. Women think that strength training will give them bigger muscles, but that’s not true. Because we don’t have that much testosterone in our bodies,” she said.

“We need lean muscle. As you age, after 35-40, your muscle mass decreases every year. You need to do this for healthy bones, healthy structure, healthy posture. So please do strength training.”

strength training in women

Strength training for women is highly beneficial, providing improvements in muscle tone, strength and metabolism, without the risk of becoming too bulky. It increases lean muscle mass, which not only boosts physical strength, but also increases resting metabolism, aiding in fat loss and weight management. Regular strength training also improves bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis, which is especially important as women age.

Additionally, strength training supports mental health by increasing self-confidence, reducing stress and helping to manage conditions such as anxiety and depression. It also promotes better joint stability and flexibility, reducing the risk of injury and improving overall mobility. Women of all ages can benefit from strength training, which helps maintain muscle mass and functionality as they age.
