Rajpal Yadav established a production house named ‘Navrang Godavari Entertainment Limited’ in the name of his parents in 2005 and took a loan of Rs 5 crore.
A part of film actor Rajpal Yadav’s property in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district has been sealed by a Mumbai bank due to non-payment of loan, an official said on Wednesday. Manish Verma, manager of the Shahjahanpur branch of Central Bank of India, said that the actor had taken a loan from the bank’s Mumbai branch by mortgaging his property in his home district. The Mumbai-based actor declined to comment on the matter when contacted by PTI. Sources close to the actor said Yadav had set up a production house called ‘Navrang Godavari Entertainment Ltd’ in the name of his parents in 2005 and had taken a loan of Rs 100 crore. Rs 5 crore was seized from the Bandra Kurla Complex branch of the Central Bank of India in Mumbai.
At the time of sealing the property, the bank had dues on it He said that property worth Rs 11 crore has been seized. He said that on August 8, a team of Mumbai Bank sealed a part of the house located near the Dak Bungalow.
According to locals, the bank officials sealed the building in such a hurry that they could not even switch off the electrical appliances inside the house. Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena said that he had no information about the sealing as the bank did not seek the help of the local police in this matter.
The award-winning actor hails from Kunda village in Shahjahanpur district and visits the place at least once every year, said Zarif Malik, his theatre guru since childhood. Yadav received his early education in Banda city and then moved to Shahjahanpur for his graduation. It was during his stay in Shahjahanpur that he developed an interest in theatre, Malik said.
Malik said he did theatre in Shahjahanpur from 1987 to 1992 and then studied at the Bhartendu Natya Academy in Lucknow before moving to the National School of Drama in Delhi.
