Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday attacked Narendra Modi amid the NEET exam controversy. Party supporters also protested in the national capital against alleged rigging in the exam results. The development comes at a time when senior members of the BJP-led NDA are preparing to take oath for a record third term.
“Narendra Modi is yet to take oath and the NEET scam has devastated over 24 lakh students and their families. 6 students from a single exam centre top the exam with maximum marks, many get marks which are technically not possible, but the government continues to deny the possibility of paper leak,” Rahul Gandhi said in a post on Twitter.
However, the National Testing Agency has denied any irregularities. It claimed that changes made to NCERT textbooks and giving grace marks for wasting time at exam centres had led to students scoring higher marks.
Gandhi also claimed that his party has prepared a “strong” plan to deal with the “paper leak industry”. Several parties have raised concerns about the authenticity of the national exam for medical courses. Congress leaders on Friday demanded a high-level probe monitored by the Supreme Court into “irregularities” in the NEET for medical courses and accused the BJP of deceiving the youth and playing with their future.
He said, “In our manifesto, we had pledged to give students ‘freedom from paper leak’ by making a law. Today I assure all the students of the country that I will be your voice in the Parliament and will strongly raise the issues related to your future.”
The Congress Working Committee on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution demanding Gandhi to be made the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha.
