Rabri Devi takes a dig at PM’s ‘Mujra’ remark: ‘Does Modi play the tabla?’

Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the infamous “mujra” remark about opposition party Bharat in Bihar during the Lok Sabha election campaign, former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri Devi on Monday responded in the same language.

When journalists drew his attention to PM Modi’s remarks, he did not hesitate to ridicule them. He said, according to news agency ANI PTI“And what does Modi do? Does he play the tabla?”

RJD founder president and wife of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, said the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has “gone mad and started talking nonsense” after facing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

When asked to react to Prime Minister Modi’s remarks in which he alleged that the India bloc was getting support from Pakistan-sponsored ‘jihadis’, he said, “If that is indeed the case, what are the intelligence agencies doing? And before commenting on Pakistan, they should remember that one of their biggest leaders Lal Krishna Advani, who became deputy prime minister, was born in that country.”

What did Asaduddin Owaisi say?

Criticising the Prime Minister for his remarks, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said the Prime Minister was doing disco dance with China while the Chinese troops have reportedly occupied around 2,000 square kilometres of Indian territory.

He wrote on X, “@narendramodi ji you talked about mujra, so Asaduddin Owaisi wants to ask you that for the last 3 years China has occupied 2 thousand square kilometers of Indian land, Modi ji if you are not removing China then were you doing disco dance with China?”

“Should the Prime Minister use this kind of language? Does Modi think we don’t have a mouth to speak?”do I not have a tongue in my mouth), “Owaisi said.

What did Prime Minister Modi say?

Addressing several election rallies in Bihar, PM Modi attacked India Bloc on the issue of reservation and accused it of doing ‘mujra’ for the Muslim vote bank.

“I guarantee the SC, ST, OBC communities of Bihar that as long as Modi is alive, I will not let him take away their rights. For Modi, the Constitution is supreme, for Modi, the sentiments of Babasaheb Ambedkar are supreme… If the Indi alliance wants to accept slavery of their vote bank, they are free to do so… If they want to do mujra (dance), they are free to do so… I still stand firmly with SC, ST and OBC reservation. As long as I live I will keep fighting,” He said.

Following his remarks, he was criticised by several opposition leaders, including Congress’ Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah and Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav.
