Quentin Tarantino is in no mood to watch the recent adaptation of the books starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya.

The new Dune films directed by Denis Villeneuve may be finding a new generation of fans, but director Quentin Tarantino is firmly moving away from that group. Pulp Fiction director Bret Easton appeared on Ellis’ podcast and revealed that he has not seen Villeneuve’s Dune films and does not plan to. What did Quentin Tarantino say?

During the conversation, the director said that he is not interested in watching new films in which the word ‘spice’ has been used so dramatically. He said, “I saw [David Lynch’s] Dune a couple of times. I don’t need to see that story again. I don’t need to see spice bugs. I don’t need to watch a movie that says the word ‘spice’ so dramatically.

He further added, “It’s one remake after another, and that’s a remake. People ask ‘Have you seen Dune?’ ‘Have you seen the replays?’ ‘Have you seen Shogun?’ And I’m like ‘No, no, no, no.’ There are six or seven Ripley books, if you do it once again, why are you doing the same thing they’ve already done twice? I’ve seen that story twice before, and I didn’t really like it in either version, so I have no interest in watching it a third time. If you made up another story, it would be interesting enough to try anyway.”

The sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 hit Dune was released in theaters on March 1 earlier this year. Dune: Part Two is based on the second part of Frank Herbert’s book, set on the fictional desert planet of Arrakis. Timothy plays Paul Atreides, the exiled Duke of House Atreides. Zendaya plays Chani, a young Fremen warrior named Chani. The film will also star Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin and Stellan Skarsgård. Dennis said he is also interested in making a third Dune film based on the second book in the series, Dune Messiah.
