Queen of Tears emerged as a spectacular premiere, originally backed by South Korean network tvN and production banner Studio Dragon. Running on streamers tvING and Netflix from March 9 to April 28, the series saw lovable stars Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won not only win millions of hearts but also rack up record-breaking achievements.
It’s been more than a month since the 16-episode season ended, but the Korean drama has maintained its leading position on the global streaming platform. In the latest weekly report released by Netflix, Queen of Tears has once again ranked high in the top 10 most-watched shows in the non-English category for the week of May 27 to June 2.
Ranking 10th on the Global Top 10 TV (Non-English) list, the romantic comedy series continued its long-running spell on the charts for the 13th consecutive week since its original premiere. Continuing its streak of impressive achievements, the K-drama set a record by surpassing 600 million cumulative viewing hours (617.8 million). It received 1.1 million views this week alone.

The final episode of Queen of Tears achieved the biggest milestone ever for Korean network tvN, as its viewership ratings averaged 24.9%. Even a month after the show’s melodrama chapter ended, its global popularity continues to propel its bigger-than-life milestone. It is also the only K-drama to have maintained its place in the top 10 weekly rankings for 13 consecutive weeks.

Ranking of other K-dramas in Netflix’s Global Top 10 (non-English)
While Queen of Tears has established a fanbase unlike any other K-drama this year, The Atypical Family is also going strong at its own pace on Netflix. Following the series premiere on May 4, the fantasy romance starring Chun Woo Hee and Kang Ki Yong has remained strong in the top 10 weekly rankings for four consecutive weeks, earning 2.1 million views last week.
On the other hand, Netflix removed all eight episodes of The 8 Show at once on May 17. The black comedy series starring Chun Woo Hee, Ryu Jun Yeol, Lee Yul Eum, Lee Joo Young, Park Jeong Min and others ranked second this week with 2.8 million views. It has maintained its hold on these rankings for the past three weeks.
