Poor knee health in older adults: 5 exercises to improve joint power

With improving the strength of the knee, large adults can control their lives with better mobility. Look at these exercises for good joint health.

As people get old, their knee joints become weak, do everyday movements, such as going above the stairs or even standing or getting up from the toilet seat, feeling as a big challenge. It can be, indeed, with persistent discomfort, low mobility and constant requirement for support. The joint worries of the knee reduce freedom as older adults may require increased help, which can also affect their mental health.

But this cannot change with the help of exercises that improve the knee joints, and strengthen it.

A fitness and nutritionist, Rishabh, took five exercises on Instagram to share five exercises, which he does for his 62 -year -old mother for strong knees.

Exercise for good knee health

  1. calf raises
  • Stand a hold on a chair
  • Raise heels in all ways
  • Slowly bring back down
  • 20 recurrence

2. Flexor lift

  • Sitting down, lift one leg at a time while holding the other
  • Feel the burning when you lift it to the maximum.
  • 10 recurrence on each leg

3. Ankle winding

  • Circular, ankle full 360 movement
  • 10 recurrence on each side

4. Sit and lift your toes

  • Sit, with legs, lift your toes above work
  • Total 20 repetitions

5. Sit to stand

  • Take a chair
  • Sit slowly and stand up
  • 10 recurrence

The coach recommended to do these exercises at least twice a week.

What to eat for good knee health?

In the first HT lifestyle interview, Senior Advisor of Orthopedic Surgeon at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals. Rajesh Malhotra shared the nutrients essential for good joint health. He said, “A balanced diet rich in omega -3 fatty acids found in foods such as fish and nuts can help reduce inflammation. Antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables are also beneficial. And remember to stay hydrated. Water is essential for joint lubrication and overall body function.”
