Just before the commencement of the exam, when the students reached the hall to take the exam they were informed about the postponement of the exam due to paper leak.
Another paper leak case has come to light after the NEET exam. The MBBS first year exam at Pondicherry University has been postponed due to paper leak. Students were informed about the postponement of the exam due to paper leak after they reached the hall to take the exam just before the start of the exam.
The Assistant Registrar (Medical) of the university has sent a circular to the Deans/Directors of the colleges affiliated to the university regarding the postponement of the examination. However, no reason has been given for postponing the examination. The circular states that the examinations of the first year of MBBS 2024 session have to be postponed due to unavoidable reasons. The revised schedule of the examination will be released soon.
Earlier in June, the central government notified the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which aims to prevent unfair means in public examinations and common entrance examinations conducted across the country. The Act aims to prevent paper leaks and malpractices in entrance examinations. As per the Act, anyone found guilty of leaking the paper or tampering with answer sheets can be punished with a minimum jail term of three years, which may extend to five years, with a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh.

The matter comes amid allegations of irregularities in NEET and UGC NET. The Ministry of Education had cancelled the UGC NET exam scheduled for June 18 due to apprehensions of paper leak. The June session exam was conducted for 11,21,225 applicants at 1205 exam centres located at 317 locations across the country. However, it was later revealed that the question paper was circulated on the dark web two days before the exam. Now the exam will be held again from August 21 to September 4.
