Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Moscow from July 8-9 for the India-Russia bilateral summit. Russia said the visit will be very “important” and “fulfilling”, with Russia-India relations at the centre.

This year’s India-Russia dialogue marks the 22nd India-Russia annual summit. This will be the first time Modi will visit Moscow since the Russia-Ukraine war began in February 2022.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian state television channel VGTRK that Prime Minister Modi’s schedule in Moscow is expected to be quite busy. Peskov said that the two leaders of Russia and India will be able to hold informal talks.

India’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin have met each other 16 times in the last 10 years. The last meeting of the two leaders was in 2022 for the SCO summit in Uzbekistan.
