New Delhi [India]September 27 (ANI): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dimitri Patrosev to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Goyal said in a post on X, “Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, he had a fruitful discussion with the delegation led by Dimitri Patrusv. We are committed to deepen India-Russia partnership and search for a new route for business, services and cooperation in business, services and industrial cooperation. Along with, we aim to unlock more and more opportunities for our strategic development.”

According to government sources, Patrushev visited India, where he met senior representatives of major ministries. His meeting with Goyal focused on strengthening the work of overseas agencies, increasing cooperation in the fisheries sector and opening the Indian market for Russian meat and dairy products. The Russian Deputy Prime Minister also underlined the need to accelerate a free trade agreement between India and Eurasian Economic Association.

Patrushev also interacted to increase cooperation in the supply of central health and family welfare and chemicals and fertilizers, Union Ministers of Jagat Prakash Nadad, mineral fertilizers. During the discussion, he said that Russia was interested in continuing its strategic partnership with India and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister also met the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The meeting focuses on a possible increase in agricultural supply volume and limit. Russia highlighted the high export capacity of vegetable oils, legumes and other products for India. Patrhev said that there was a rapid increase in agricultural trade between the two countries, an increase of 60 percent in 2024.

Both sides discussed establishing direct contact between research institutes and creating advanced training programs for experts from both countries. (AI)
