Produced by Sumit Roy and directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar, it is “an epic saga of legacy and ambition in the world of cinema” starring Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Mouni Roy, Shriya Saran, Mahima Makwana. Apart from shedding light on nepotism and power struggles, Showtime also gives a glimpse of what happens in Bollywood.
HanuMan, ZEE5
Directed by Prashant Varma, this Teja Sajja, Amrita Iyer and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar-starrer tells the story of an underdog who gains superpowers with the help of a totem. Hanuman was released theatrically on 12 January in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Work is also going on on a sequel titled Jai Hanuman.
Merry Christmas, Netflix India
Sriram Raghavan’s mystery thriller starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif was filmed in Tamil and Hindi, and was released theatrically on January 12. Merry Christmas is based on the French novel Le Monte-Charge by Frédéric Dard. It tells the story of two strangers who meet on Christmas Eve, but their romance soon turns into a nightmare.
Maharani Season 3, SonyLIV
The third season of the political series created by Subhash Kapoor stars Huma Qureshi, Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti and Inamulhaq in lead roles. The series is partly inspired by several incidents that took place in Bihar in the 1990s. The show’s first season premiered in 2021, with a second season streaming a year later.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s Millie Bobby Brown-starrer tells the story of a young woman who finds her fairy tale coming true. She agrees to marry a handsome prince, but realizes that her story may just be a nightmare. He must rely entirely on his wits to escape the traps laid for him.

The film starring Jay Baruchel, Glenn Howerton and Matt Johnson is a fictional story based on the creation of the BlackBerry phone. It is adapted in its entirety from the book Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry by Jackie McNish and Shawn Silkoff.
The Gentleman, Netflix
Produced by Guy Ritchie, the Christopher Benstead directorial is a spin-off of the 2019 film of the same name. Starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, the series focuses on an aristocrat who inherits a fortune after discovering that her family owns the largest hemp farm in Europe. Now, he must find a way to protect what he has inherited and survive.
Governance, JioCinema
The mini-series starring Kate Winslet, Martha Plimpton, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts and Hugh Grant is created by Will Tracey and directed by Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs, consisting of six episodes. The satire series tells the story of a dictator who rules Europe.
To Kill a Tiger, Netflix
This emotional documentary is helmed by Priyanka Chopra, Dev Patel and Mindy Kaling. Nominated for an Oscar and directed by Canadian filmmaker Nisha Pahuja, it tells the story of a farmer from Jharkhand who is on a mission to get justice for his teenage daughter who is a victim of sexual assault.

A comedy special curated by award-winning comedian Hannah Gadsby featuring a range of the world’s funniest genderqueer comedians. Jess Tom, Alok, Asha Ward, Chloe Petts, DeAnn Smith, Krishna Istha and MX. Dahlia Belle is some of the featured ones.
