The Indian government is looking for a way for the safe release of the Indians captured by Iran on the ship. An Israeli ship has been captured by Iran near the Strait of Hormuz. After the information about the presence of 17 Indians on this ship, the Foreign Ministry of India became active and now the Foreign Minister of Iran has also given a statement on this matter.
Regarding this matter, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian said that Indian officials will be allowed to meet the 17 Indians present on the cargo ship. Amir-Abdullahian telephoned Indian Foreign Minister S. Gave this information to Jaishankar. Whereas, Jaishankar had asked to release the Indian crew members aboard this cargo ship.
According to the news, Indian officials are in contact with Iran to ensure the release of 17 countrymen. Along with this, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has expressed full confidence in bringing back the 17 Indian crew members aboard the cargo ship captured by Iran. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee works not only within the country but also abroad.
Before this, be it from the war-torn areas of Russia and Ukraine, during the Palestine-Israel war, evacuating Indians stranded in Sudan or bringing back citizens stranded abroad during the Covid pandemic, the Modi government has done this time and again. Modi government evacuated more than 22,500 Indians from war-torn Ukraine under Operation Ganga. Similarly, under Operation Kaveri, more than 3,800 Indians stranded in Sudan were evacuated from there in 2023. With the capture of Afghanistan by the Taliban, in the year 2021, about 1,200 people were repatriated safely to their homeland under Operation Devi Shakti. These people also included 206 Afghans belonging to the Afghan Hindu/Sikh minority community.
When war broke out in Yemen between the government and Houthi rebels, about 5,600 people were evacuated from there under Operation Rahat run by the Modi government in 2015. In February 2019, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was brought back safely from Pakistan. Along with this, during the Corona epidemic, the Modi government had launched Vande Bharat Mission to bring back Indians stranded abroad. Under this mission, lakhs of Indians were brought back home.
After the earthquake in Nepal in 2015, Operation Maitri was launched by the government. Under this, more than 5,000 Indians returned home safely in a joint operation of the Army and Air Force.
