Thalkedar is an important pilgrimage site and famous Shiva temple of Pithoragarh, which is located at a distance of about 16 km from Pithoragarh at a height of 2100 meters in Barabe village. This religious place is most famous for its Shivalinga, which is believed to be 1000 million years old, due to which it is counted among the oldest temples. The description of this temple is also found in Skanda Purana. From the Thalkedar temple situated on the peak, a beautiful view of the Himalayas of Garhwal, Kumaon and Nepal can be seen. During Mahashivratri and the month of Sawan, a fair of Shiva devotees is held here and people come here from far and wide to worship Shiva.
