This re-examination is only for those applicants who received compensation marks in their original results. The exam will be held on June 23

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced plans to conduct a re-exam for 1563 NEET UG 2024 candidates who were given grace marks due to lack of time. This comes amid the recent controversy over the entrance exam and the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel the compensation exam allotted earlier to these candidates. The re-exam will be held on June 23. It aims to reverse the results declared on June 4. Admit cards for the re-exam will be issued soon and fresh results will be published on the official website.

The official notification states that a high-powered committee was constituted to examine the issue of grant of compensatory/grace marks to 1563 candidates, as complaints were raised about this action. The committee, after thorough deliberations on all relevant aspects, submitted its recommendations/report, which have been accepted by the NTA. “As per the recommendations of the high-powered committee, NTA has decided to re-conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Graduate). [NEET (UG)] – 2024 on 23rd June 2024 for 1563 candidates who had experienced loss of time during the originally scheduled examination on 05th May 2024 and were awarded compensatory marks,” the notice mentioned.

Moreover, this re-exam is only for those applicants who have received compensatory marks in their original results. The exam will be held on June 23 between 2:00 pm to 5:20 pm and the result is expected to be released on June 30.

The original scorecards of these 1563 candidates will be cancelled and taken back. Candidates will receive their actual marks without grace marks through their registered email address. Candidates who do not wish to appear for the re-examination will receive the result without grace marks and for candidates who appear for the re-examination, only the re-evaluated marks will be taken into consideration.

For any queries, candidates can send mail to neet@nta.ac.in or contact the officials at 011 – 40759000 / 011 – 69227700.

NEET-UG 2024 was held on May 5 for around 24 lakh students, and the results were announced on June 4, much before the expected release date of June 14. The controversy began when the NEET results showed that 67 people, six of whom came from the same or nearby exam centres, got a perfect score of 720 marks. After students filed petitions in high courts, the NTA formed a grievance redressal committee made up of exam and academic experts, which investigated the complaints using factual reports and CCTV footage. They confirmed the loss of exam time and awarded grace marks to 1,563 students.
