If you are troubled by spam calls, now your problem is going to go away soon. Because DoT has ordered companies to activate the caller ID feature, after which you will know whose call is coming.

The Department of Telecommunications asked the telecom companies to take these steps.

New Delhi. Whether you use a smartphone or a keypad phone, I bet you will definitely be troubled by spam calls. Actually, you pick up any call from an unknown number thinking that it may be an office call or a job call. In such situations, many times people become victims of scamming. If this has happened to you then you no longer need to worry. Because the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has found a way out of this problem.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed all telecom operators in India, including Airtel, Jio, BSNL and Vodafone Idea, to start Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) service without any delay. With this step, fake calls can be controlled and the person receiving the call will see the verified name of the caller.

CNAP will be implemented soon
According to a report in ET Telecom, DoT recently called a meeting with telecom operators, emphasizing the urgent need to implement CNAP technology. Currently in the testing phase, CNAP will allow smartphone users to identify callers by displaying the name linked to the SIM card’s KYC data. However, this service will not be available for 2G feature phone users.

Showing the verified name of the caller can help deter scammers and significantly reduce fraudulent calls.

SIM card verification will be strictly enforced
Apart from CNAP, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has directed the Department of Telecommunications to further tighten the process of issuing SIM cards. Now telecom companies have been banned from selling new SIM cards without Aadhaar biometric verification. This measure ensures that SIM cards are not issued using fake documents, thereby helping to prevent fraud and unauthorized activities.
