Not allowed to go to CM office: SC sets five interim bail conditions for Arvind Kejriwal

The Supreme Court on Friday, while granting interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy case, imposed five conditions and said that the Delhi Chief Minister will not contact any witness in this case.

In a major relief to Kejriwal – the apex court bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta granted 21 days interim bail to Kejriwal till June 1 to campaign in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

The court has asked Kejriwal to surrender on June 2.

Here are the five conditions of SC

  1. Kejriwal will have to pay a personal bond Rs 50,000 before being released from jail.
  2. The Chief Minister of Delhi cannot go to the Chief Minister’s Office or Delhi Secretariat.
  3. He will be bound by the statement given on his part that he will not sign the official file unless it is necessary and necessary to obtain the approval of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
  4. Kejriwal will not comment regarding his role in the excise policy matter.
  5. He will not interact with any witnesses in the case, or have access to official files related to the case.

Kejriwal’s release before voting on Delhi Lok Sabha seats will boost the morale of Aam Aadmi Party workers. The party is contesting four out of seven Lok Sabha seats in alliance with the Congress. The oldest party is contesting on three seats.

“Jai Hanuman ji. This is the victory of democracy. This is the result of prayers and blessings of millions of people. “Thank you very much to everyone,” Sunita Kejriwal said in a post on X.

Aam Aadmi Party celebrated

AAP leaders and workers started celebrating soon after the apex court’s decision, with AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj saying the development is a ‘sign from God’ for the country.

Party national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said, “We are extremely grateful to the Supreme Court for upholding democracy in the country today. The interim bail has been granted in very extraordinary circumstances.”
