National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued orders to medical colleges to fill the information of students related to MBBS first year admission for the session 2024-25. He has directed all medical colleges and institutions to ensure that the admission process is as per the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 and the selection process of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

For this purpose, NMC has implemented an online monitoring system for each medical college, under which all colleges will have to fill the details of admitted students on the official website of NMC by November 8. Each institute has to log in with its unique ID and enter data related to each student like NEET score, student details, admission category, fee details etc.

Apart from submitting students’ details online, colleges are obliged to post other related admission details on their website for public access. NMC may also ask for other documents such as 10+2 certificate and caste/equivalence certificate to ensure compliance with the guidelines.

As per this directive, all medical colleges will have to admit students within the mandatory intake capacity and only through centralized NEET-based counselling.

The admission criteria include the candidate being 17 years of age on or after 31st December, completing 10+2 qualifying examination separately for each subject and qualifying NEET-UG score based on percentage scores defined by different categories. For general candidates, 50th percentile is required in NEET, while for SC/ST/OBC and PwD categories it is 40th percentile. Candidates who are physically handicapped must also score at least 45th percentile in their test.

NMC has issued a warning that if any college is found guilty of enrolling students through any process other than the NEET counseling system or which admits more students than the sanctioned quota, they will be heavily penalized, financial or otherwise. May go. In case of first offense of non-compliance of syllabus, the total penalty is Rs 1 crore or course fee per seat and for subsequent offences, this amount is double. If violations continue, institutions may be placed under probation and banned from admitting students in future academic years.
