The Ministry of Education on Monday, August 12, released the National Institutional Ranking Framework, NIRF Rankings 2024. The ninth edition of the NIRF India Rankings was released by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. NIRF Ranking 2024 Live Updates
It is noteworthy that this year too, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has claimed to be the top university of India. Apart from this, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi and Jamia Millia Islamia have also retained their previous positions at second and third place respectively.
Meanwhile, Manipal Academy of Higher Education-Manipal, Manipal moved up to fourth position this year, while Jadavpur University slipped to ninth position.
Here are the top 10 institutes in the university category:
- Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru
- Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
- Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi
- Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal
- Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi
- University of Delhi, Delhi
- Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore
- Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh
- Jadavpur University, Kolkata
- Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore
It is noteworthy that this year the Ministry has ranked the institutions in 16 categories, and has introduced three more categories which include Open University, Skill University and State Private University.
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was ranked first in the Open University category, while Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (formerly Symbiosis Skills and Open University) topped the Skills University category.
Similarly, Anna University ranked first in the state private university category.
In the overall category, IIT Madras retained the top spot, IISc Bangalore secured the second position and IIT Bombay stood third.
Whereas, Hindu College, New Delhi topped the NIRF Ranking 2024 for the college category.
