NEET and 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the question paper pattern and exam duration for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025 will return to the pre-Covid format. In an official notice issued on Saturday, NTA clarified that NEET UG 2025 will be conducted as per the original exam plan, with temporary changes introduced during the pandemic no longer in effect.
“All NEET (UG)-2025 aspirants are informed that the question paper pattern and duration of the examination will return to the pre-Covid format. The official notice reads, “There will be no Section B anymore.
NEET and 2025 exam pattern
A major change for NEET (UG)-2025 candidates is the removal of Section B, which means the exam will no longer have optional questions. The paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions – 45 questions each in Physics and Chemistry, and 90 questions in Biology. Candidates will be required to answer all these questions within the 180-minute (3-hour) time limit, eliminating the extra time and optional question provisions that were temporarily introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Duration of Examination: Total duration will be 180 minutes (3 hours) with no extra time or optional questions.
Meanwhile, NTA has also clarified that APAAR ID is not mandatory for NEET-UG 2025 registration. In its previous notice dated January 14, 2025, NTA encouraged candidates to update their Aadhaar credentials and link their APA ID (formerly Academic Bank of Credit or ABC ID). However, NTA has now confirmed that this is not a requirement for NEET UG 2025 registration.
