Officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Union Education Ministry will reportedly be present at the exam centres where the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) re-exam will be held this week.

Meanwhile, an NTA official gave this information. Hindustan Times “All other exam centres have changed; one centre in Chandigarh, where only two candidates will take the exam, will remain the same,” he said.

The report said that officials from the agency and the Union education ministry will also be present at these centres. “This step has been taken to ensure smooth conduct of the re-examination,” the official reportedly said.

NEET (UG)-2024 was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5 at 4,750 centres in 571 cities (including 14 cities abroad) for over 24 lakh candidates. The result of NEET (UG)-2024 was declared on June 4, 2024.

The development comes after reports of “irregularities” in the NEET-UG exam results were reported at six exam centres in Meghalaya, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Chandigarh, Hindustan Times reported.

“The result of those affected candidates (1563) who do not wish to appear for re-examination will be declared on the basis of their actual marks (without compensation) obtained in the examination held on 05.05.2024,” the NTA said.

Meanwhile, the marks obtained by the candidates who appeared in the re-examination will be considered and their marks based on the May 5 examination will be cancelled.

Earlier on Friday, Supreme Court refuses to conduct counselling for NEETThe UG proceedings are scheduled to begin on July 6, and the petitions will be heard on July 8.
