Amid reports of question paper leak, a group of candidates have moved the Supreme Court seeking re-conduct of the NEET-UG, 2024 exam. The exam was held on May 5.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS and AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country. The result is expected to be declared on June 14.
The petition filed by Shivangi Mishra and others has made NTA a party and has raised the issue of paper leak and purity of the exam and has sought a direction to conduct the exam afresh.
The petition alleged that the NEET-UG exam held on May 5 was marred by irregularities as several cases of paper leak had come to the notice of the petitioners.
The alleged paper leak was violative of Article 14 (Right to Equality) under the Constitution as it gave an unfair advantage to some candidates over others who had chosen to take the examination in a fair manner.
The petition, which was filed through advocate Usha Nandini V on June 1, is likely to be listed before a vacation bench this week.
