NCERT changes references to ‘Gujarat riots, Babri Masjid’ from Class 12 syllabus

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has removed certain references to Hindutva politics, 2002 Gujarat riots, minorities and Babri Masjid from the Class 12 political science syllabus, which will be applicable from the academic session 2024. 25.

1) Reference to “Ayodhya demolition” removed from Chapter 8 titled “Recent Developments in Indian Politics”. Another chapter is titled “What is the legacy of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and Ayodhya demolition for the nature of political mobilization?” was changed to “What is the legacy of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement?” In this chapter, mention of Babri Masjid and Hindutva politics was removed.
