Murshidabad violence: Two people were killed by a mob, while another person hunted injuries amid fresh violence in Murshidabad in West Bengal on Saturday, a day after widespread unrest during the protest against the Waqf Amendment Act.
118 people have been arrested in connection with the Murshidabad violence, in which police raids are going on at many places.
He said that the victims, a father and son, were found with several stabbing wounds inside their house in Zafarabad, located in the violence-hit Samserganj area.
Meanwhile, West Bengal LOP and BJP leader Suvandu Officer have shifted the Calcutta High Court demanding the deployment of central forces in West Bengal.

Suvendu Officer stepped into Calcutta High Court
“In view of the large -scale communal riots spread like wildfire in West Bengal, I demanded immediate intervention from the state government for the need of central paramilitary forces. The state government did not accept it. There is no other option, I have approached the High Court for an immediate hearing.

CM said in a post on X, “Remember, we did not make the law on which many people are excited. The law was made by the central government. So the answer you want should be sought from the Central Government.”
“We have clarified our position on the matter – we do not support this law. This law will not be implemented in our state. So what is about the riot,” he asked.

In a separate event, a person who retained bullet injuries in the Samserganj area bent in front of the injuries. Police officials said their personnel were unlikely to be involved in firing, suggesting that it could “come from BSF,” as central forces were deployed in the area to control unrest.

Meanwhile, Suvendu Officer wrote to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) demanded an inquiry into the barbarity of railway property in the district.
He said, “It was not a task of protest, but a predetermined work of violence, democracy and governance were attacked by jihadi forces, who try to spread anarchy to claim and fear their dominance among other communities of our society,” he said in a position on X.

On Friday, extensive violence erupted in Malda, Murshidabad, South 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts during the protest against the new law. Several vehicles, including police vans, were set as ablases, stones were thrown at security forces, and the roads were blocked.
Security has been tightened in Jagipur, Murshidabad after protests on the Waqf Act in Dhulian-Ratanpur area.

Officials said that the situation is now under control, with the Border Security Force (BSF) assisting the state police to maintain orders to assist. A large contingent of security personnel is stationed in sensitive areas, especially around Jangipur, which is the center of violence.
