In the poster, Kangana is seen in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She is seen looking away from the camera in the poster. The film will be released on September 7 this year.
The caption read, “The beginning of the 50th year of the darkest chapter of Independent India, #KanganaRanaut’s #Emergency in cinemas on 6th September 2024. The explosive saga of the most controversial episode in the history of Indian democracy, #EmergencyOn6September in cinemas worldwide.”
Many delays in emergency
The release date was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections last month. Kangana is the lead actress, writer, director and producer of Emergency. Manikarnika Films Production is behind the upcoming political drama. The film has been postponed several times; it was earlier scheduled to release on November 24, 2023.
About the emergency
Emergency is presented as the story of a pivotal moment in India’s political history. It also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik. Backed by Zee Studios, Emergency is produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Ritesh Shah and the music is composed by Sanchit Balhara.
Kangana opens up about directing and acting in Emergency
Earlier, Kangana had spoken about the film. According to news agency ANI, she had said, “The Emergency is one of the most important and darkest chapters in our history that young India must know about. It’s an important story and I would like to thank my super-talented actors like the late Satish ji, Anupam ji, Shreyas, Mahima and Milind for coming together on this creative journey. I am excited to bring this extraordinary episode of India’s history to the big screen. Jai Hind!”
