MNNIT Allahabad to hold 20th convocation on August 18 – AyraNews24x7 Hindi

A total of 1670 students will be awarded degrees in the convocation.

The 20th convocation of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad, Prayagraj will be held on Sunday, August 18 at 4 pm in the auditorium of the institute. Degrees and medals will be awarded to students of various engineering courses during the ceremony. Infosys co-founder and honorary chairman Dr NR Narayana Murthy will attend the event as the chief guest and address the graduating students. Dr Vivek Lal, chairman of the board of governors, will preside over the convocation to be held online. Other distinguished guests will include Professor Sangita Shrivastava, Vice Chancellor of Allahabad Central University and Professor Anand K. Tyagi, Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi.

Speaking to the media, MNNIT Director Professor Ramashankar Verma said that a total of 1670 students will be awarded degrees in the convocation. This will include 985 BTech, 414 MTech, 104 MCA, 29 MBA, 27 MSc and 111 research students. These degrees will be given to students from all over the country. The list of students receiving degrees in the convocation includes 334 girl students. Gold medals will also be awarded to the meritorious students of the institute in the convocation. According to the MNNIT director, so far more than 1100 students have registered to receive degrees by attending personally.

A total of 59 foreign students will be awarded medals during the convocation. These include 52 men and 7 women who have taken admission in the institute through the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) programme. Apart from this, 15 students, including 14 men and 1 woman, who got admission through the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), will also be given their degrees.

The list of awards also includes 13 gold medals for outstanding performing students. The winner of these medals will be decided by faculty members, alumni and various industries. Om Vijay Gupta, a student of Electronics and Communication course, will be awarded the Institute’s Gold Medal as the best student among all B.Tech final year students of batch 2023. He will be awarded a total of four gold medals.

In the year-wise medal category, gold medals will be awarded to Rishabh Gupta, a student of Civil Engineering for the third year, Vaibhav Kansal, a student of Computer Science and Engineering for the second year and Aviral Mishra, a student of Electrical Engineering for the first year.
