Game Freak has suffered a significant data breach, leaking over several terabytes of sensitive information, including assets from the upcoming 24th Pokémon movie.
Game Freak, the studio behind the masterpiece Pokemon video game has been hit by the largest data breach in its history, aimed at the movie – The Pokemon. A user has reportedly dumped a ton of data online, purportedly extracted from Game Freak Studios. The size of the leak is reportedly surpassing the terabyte unit and includes all the good stuff including game assets and lore.

Leaks revealed that the studio was considering various ideas for a 24th film and it was referred to by the codename Bauer. The film began production in 2021 and was scheduled to be released in 2023, however, it was postponed indefinitely.
According to the leak, a rough synopsis of the 24th Pokémon movie was developed and it takes a darker turn than other previously released movies. The idea of the film was to win back fans who had lapsed over the years by rebooting the entire universe of Pokémon. The darker touch was added to the story to attract older fans who have the financial resources to watch movies in theaters. As ComicBook reports, the film has moved towards a more in-depth story with its debut, Pokémon: The First Movie.

Pokemon movie rough sketch leaked
The leak revealed that the film would be set in modern-day Kanto with Mew being the film’s central mythological creature. The synopsis will revolve around two original characters named Light and Akari as they struggle through their teenage years. It touched upon deep topics ranging from cyberbullying to suicide.
However, leaks indicate that executives were not too thrilled with its tone as their fanbase consists of a large number of children. They were also not happy with exposing children to such dark topics that could have a serious impact on young children.
Other leaked details from the data breach revealed the source code of older games like Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, and the codenames of the upcoming Gen 10 Pokemon games – including “Ounce” and “Gaia” for the Switch 2, respectively. As reported by CBR, the leak also includes a 30-year-old history of Pokémon, information from company meetings, beta designs, employee information, and upcoming titles, as well as mention of a Pokémon MMO that is currently in development. The Pokémon movies are known for releasing a movie every year since 1988 and fans have become used to it, but it’s been four years since the last movie was released. Also, due to the leak, the future of the film also looks bleak.
