Fandom reviews were mostly positive.
Like most Marvel movies, from the lightning The film’s release already has fans eagerly awaiting its release. “Now this is how you make a Marvel production!!! 👏” one said. “This movie is basically “Underrated Actors: The Movie” looks really good,” another fan said, referring to the spotlight on villainous characters. Many fans were also excited by the fact that the film was set on Earth, rather than Marvel’s usual obsession with the multiverse. “I have to say I’m actually surprised at how good this looks. It’s refreshing to see a Marvel movie where they’re more low profile and not doing planet/multiverse ending scenarios for the first time in a long time,” one happy fan said.
Excited for Bucky’s reappearance
While the overall impact of the film was mostly positive, many reactions were concerned with Bucky’s appearance. The definition of a heartthrob antagonist, Bucky has been seen in a range of multiverse roles, appearing alongside Falcon in the mini-series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
“I love the journey Bucky has taken from helping a little friend join WWII to this point,” said one fan. “I just want the Winter Soldier music to play when Bucky starts blowing things up,” said another. “I’m watching this movie just for my son Bucky! He’s the most underrated actor in this MCU and definitely the most underrated character. Been following this guy since 2011,” was another fan’s sentiment. Others speculate that this will be the birth of the ‘Dark Avengers’ – a group of villains who fight against worse villains, which is being compared to DC’s Suicide Squad. “Calling it now: An end to calling them “The Dark Avengers” will be revealed,” said one.
Some fans were disappointed
But as usual, there were some negative comments. Marvel has been going through a dry spell over the past few years, reportedly putting out unnecessary films that focus on uninteresting characters and exaggerated issues. One expressed his sentiment by saying, “I wish for the days when Marvel movies didn’t feel like they hired someone from Comedy Central and then gave him unlimited access to change and “tweak” the script.”
Overall, the hype around the film has been mostly positive. Fans are excited to experience a Marvel movie that’s set in the real world without aliens or magic, but it’s too early to guess the plot based on the first teaser alone. Are you excited about this anti-hero film?
