Maruti Suzuki Wagner becomes the best selling car for the 4th consecutive year

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that Wagner emerged as a top-bound vehicle in the financial year 2024-2025. The company recorded a sale of 198,451 units during this period, marked as a leading car for four consecutive financial years: FY 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. To date, 3.37 million units of Wagner have been sold, in which Maruti has asked to reinstate the model.

By updating the Wagner, it not only helps to remain relevant, but is very popular in India.

Wagner stands as one of the most preferred nameplates in the Indian motor vehicle market. It has played an important role in crossing contestants such as Tata Indica, Devu Matiz and Hyundai Santro, all of which have been closed. Despite being available in India for 25 years, the wagner continued to flourish.

Initially, Wagner faced lukewarm welcome due to his boxy design and aesthetics. However, its huge interior, fuel efficiency and dependence eventually contributed to an increase in popularity, turning it into a domestic name.

The Wagner is equipped with a 1.0-liter petrol engine, 1.2-liter petrol engine and a CNG version’s choice. The 1.0-liter engine produces about 65 bhp and 89 Nm of torque, while the CNG version produces 56 bhp and 82 Nm. The 1.2-liter engine offers 88 bhp and 113 Nm torque. Both petrol engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or 5-speed AMT, while the CNG version is particularly available with a manual gearbox. Maruti has indicated that the CNG option is the most demanding among consumers.

Wagner has been constructed on the hearts platform, which includes high-focal steel for increased safety. It is equipped with several security features, including the Electronic Breakforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Hill Hold Assist.
