RX 100, Maha Samudram and Mangalvaram fame director Ajay Bhupathi is all set to launch the grandson of late superstar Krishna. Mahesh Babu’s nephew, Jaya Krishna Ghattamaneni in Tollywood. In this film, he is launching Raveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani in Telugu. The director spoke to Hindustan Times while filming with him in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh for a film titled Srinivas Mangapuram. “This is not your typical love story,” he says, getting ready for the conversation. When asked to explain further, Ajay looked for the words that best describe his film, which will surely be as polarizing as his previous work, without revealing too much. She further added, “It’s a love story, but it’s going to be very tough. It’s emotional and there’s an innocence to it. It’s going to be a story in my genre. I always hoped to find good actors to play these characters who are new, and I’m lucky to have found them in Jaya and Rasha.”

However, it is not Ajay who approached Jaya Krishna for the role, as the director says that it was he who was asked to launch her in Tollywood. “I was asked if I would introduce him and direct his first film. And considering Krishna garu’s legacy, I feel honoured. When I saw him, I knew he would be perfect,” he says.
Talking about Rasha, he said that she was selected long ago. Uy Amma became famous. He says, “Raasha was supposed to act in Telugu long before this, but it didn’t happen. Maybe it was for the best, because she was perfect for the role. We cast her even before the release of her first film Azaad, and her song became famous.”

In fact, considering that Ajay is already shooting with her, he can’t contain his excitement over how good they look together on screen. The director says, “I didn’t prepare them much before going on the set because everything was decided at the last minute. Also, I wanted to bring out the best in them straight away on the set. At the most, we worked for two weeks before going on the floor.”
Ajay also admits that both Jaya and Rasha have a legacy to live up to, but clarifies that neither of them Mahesh and Raveena have not been involved in the film production process. “Zero, no one has been involved in this, and they trust me completely. In fact, even Jaya’s family doesn’t know the story. But I’m told they are all happy that their children are launching with me,” he says.
He says that Ajay will go to Ballari, Karnataka for the next schedule with his budding cast. related to GV Prakash’s music for the film, the tunes were finalized even before the shooting began. “No one can make films like me, just like I can’t make films like others. Music has always been important to my films, and I’m sure people will love these songs too. I hope the audience will watch this film in 2026,” he concluded.
