Meerut. On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivaratri, devotees are seen worshiping Lord Bhole with law. Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek are the most special in this. On this day there is a lot of crowd in the temples. More crowds throng in special temples. There is one such pilgrimage center, where not one but hundreds of Shivling. On Mahashivaratri, the Shivlok of Gagol Tirtha of Meerut is made on seeing it. Here you can also revolve around hundreds of Shivalingas while performing Jalabhishek. A unique Shivlok has been prepared by installing hundreds of Shivling in Gagol Tirtha.

21 circumambulation

Mahant Shivdas Maharaj of Gagol Tirtha says to Local 18 that Shivalingas have been established in hundreds of swastik sizes here. Whoever the devotees will enter here to perform Jalabhishek, they will visit the Shivalingas and reach the main Shivling by doing 21 revolutions. Here Jalabhishek means fulfilling all wishes. Even in religious texts, this Shivalinga has been described by swastika. According to Mahant Shivdas, there are only a few places in the country where Shivling has been installed on a swastika basis. Most of them are Shivalinga here in Meerut.

Why Gagol is special

Meerut is known as the nation of Mandodari’s father Mayanava. When the terror of the demons had increased, he brought Maharishi Vishwamitra and Lord Shri Ram and Lakshmana on his Taposthali Gagol Tirtha. Both brothers killed demons. There is a lake here, about which it is said that Lord Rama originated by shooting an arrow in the land. A large number of devotees reach here to offer prayers on other festivals including Chhath.
