Amid suspense over the name of the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leaders have claimed that a big decision will come soon and caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has no plans to attend the important meeting.
Dismissing speculation that Shinde had gone to his native village in Satara district due to distress, Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant said the Shiv Sena president was unwell when he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Thursday night.
Health issues or ‘big decision’?
He said, “He (Shinde) is not upset. Even in Delhi he was suffering from fever and cold. It would be wrong to say that he has gone to Dare upset.” He also said, “Anyone can face health problems.” , and if he has gone to a good place (for health reasons), there is no point in concluding that he is troubled.”
Asked about the meeting between Shinde, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar in Mumbai, Samant said, “If the meeting is not held physically, it can also be done through video conference.”
Another Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat said that Shinde will not take any post in the Union Cabinet as his interest is in Maharashtra politics and also said that ‘Shinde will take a big decision in the next 24 hours.’
He said, “When he (Eknath Shinde) has to take a big decision, he goes to his native village. By tomorrow evening he (Eknath Shinde) will take a big decision.”

He said, “Eknath Shinde will not go to Delhi. He is more interested in Maharashtra politics than Delhi politics.”

The Maharashtra Assembly election results declared on November 23 resulted in a decisive victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance. However, the alliance has not yet finalized its choice for chief minister.
BJP emerged as the largest party by winning 132 out of 280 seats in the assembly. Its allies, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, secured 57 and 41 seats respectively.
