After marriage, it is expected that the couple will maintain this beautiful bond throughout their life, but it is not necessary that this be so in every case. Many times, daily fights between husband and wife turn the house into hell. After which the husband, who had sworn to stay with her for the rest of his life, is afraid to even return home from office. A similar case came to light in Ayo State, Nigeria, where the wife crossed all limits. Frightened, the husband finally approached the court and pleaded for justice.
Karim Yekini, the man who came seeking divorce, told the Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, that my wife crosses all limits while beating me. Along with threatening me, she also blackmails me. He appealed for divorce from his wife Opemi to save her. The man said that this wife has ruined his life. Yekini alleged that his wife had cast a spell on him due to which he had to face a lot of problems and also promised to continue blackmailing her for the rest of her life to defame him.
Locked me in the room…
Yekini told the court, “One day my wife locked me in a room, due to which I could not go to my daily work. He also confiscated my car keys and invited Amotekun Corps (Security Network in the South-West) to deal with me without any reason,” he told the court, adding that neighbors and family members never stopped him. -Did not try to defend “because they are afraid of my wife.”

After this the judge called wife Opemi to present her views. She stood firmly in front of the court and did not deny any of the allegations. The wife just told the court to settle all this peacefully. It is true that I am fighting with my husband without any reason. I tried to calm my husband down before he decided to come to court, but he refused to listen to my pleas for mercy. “If he maintains his stance, I pray that the court will give me the custody of the only child between us,” Opeyemi said. After this the court said that the marriage between the two was not duly solemnized and hence it was illegal. The custody of the child was handed over to the mother. The husband was ordered to pay Rs 10,000 per month as allowance.
