When it comes to curation and her business Baby SKIMS, there’s no stopping Kim. The shapewear giant’s latest line for Dolce & Gabbana is proof enough
Kim Kardashian doesn’t do basic chores. And if you’re ever in doubt about this statement, just look at his very carefully crafted public appearances during any phase of his life. The most recent fashion trump that comes to mind is the all-white Gucci ensemble that served as the canvas for the show-stopping amethyst Atallah cross necklace, which coincidentally once graced the neck of the late Princess Diana.
Equally if not more particular about the aesthetic cues of her business, Kim’s SKIMS campaigns are either always immaculately pop-culturally relevant, or offer something so unique, that it’s a pre-teen on its own. Cannot escape from being included in the category. SKIMS’s latest campaign, which features Kim herself alongside sister Kourtney Kardashian, fits the latter bill. Then do you want to travel to Italy for some time?
SKIMS’s limited edition capsule collection for Italian fashion luxury house Dolce & Gabbana will ensure that as you slip into the cinching silhouette, you’ll truly find yourself transported to old world Italy. Between lots of sexy softness, corsets, and lots of leopard print, the line essentially captures the OG D&G aesthetic and applies it to the much-improved body shaping experience that SKIMS is known for. And so we’re left with a line that’s fresh but distinctly vintage, sensual yet full of utility – classic but with very well-thought-out updates.
The leopard print is definitely worth a mention alone. Animal prints are re-emerging for the year’s strong winter lines as well as the flipping roulette of fast fashion look listicles. But leopard print in particular has been a D&G staple for decades, its wildness fitting very easily into the luxury and class stakes. Well, it rules the roost in the D&G X SKIMS collection. In fact, one shot of Kourtney and Kim walking hand in hand, completely dressed in leopard from head to toe, is enough to establish the point. This is totally Sophia Loren-coded and we’re here for it.
This line actually serves as a great segue to revisiting Kim’s personal collaboration with the brand in 2022. ‘Hsiao Kim’ certainly plays a part in this, and a quick flip through the captivating ad campaign will show just how similar the basic aesthetic of the two is. These are the lines. D&G
So what’s not to love about a little shapewear-sized trot through the Italian countryside?
