The official vehicle of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and five other vehicles in his convoy collided with each other in Thiruvananthapuram this evening when the pilot car suddenly stopped to save a two-wheeler rider. Chief Minister Vijayan’s vehicle suffered minor damage but he was not injured in the accident and resumed his journey without any delay.

The incident occurred when a scooter suddenly took a turn and came into the path of the convoy from an adjacent road.

A video of the incident has also surfaced in which vehicles damaged in the collision are visible. In the video footage of the accident, a woman riding a scooter can be seen turning right, causing a white SUV behind her to stop suddenly. After this, six escort vehicles including an ambulance running behind the SUV were seen colliding with each other.

In the viral video, security personnel are seen getting down from the vehicles to assess the situation. Medical staff are also seen coming out of the ambulance.

According to reports, the incident took place at Vamanapuram in Thiruvananthapuram when Chief Minister Vijayan was returning to the state capital after a visit to Kottayam.

Officials are assessing the situation and strengthening security protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Separately, Kerala Police registered a case on Monday in connection with the alleged disruption in the prestigious Thrissur Pooram festival in April this year.

Thrissur East police have registered the case based on a report submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by ADGP (Crime Branch) H Venkatesh, PTI quoted officials as saying.

“The FIR is under sections 120(B) (conspiracy), 295(A) (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 153(A) (promoting enmity between Dena) different groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth, language etc. will be investigated by the SIT, said a top official.
